Michael Ryan Austin, of Yantic in New London County, was found a little after 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, in a wooded area off of Bishop Road in Bozrah — about 5 miles west of Norwich, Connecticut State Police said.

Investigators believe Austin failed to navigate a right-hand curve which sent him into the oncoming lane, where he hit a rocky embankment and crashed into a wooded area.

Paramedics rushed him to Backus Hospital in Norwich, where doctors later pronounced him dead.

The crash is under investigation.

Troopers ask anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it to contact Trooper First Class Gregory Decarli at (860) 465-5400 or by email at gregory.decarli@ct.gov.
